Freezer and batch cooking

A two-week freezer stash, on purpose

Eight to ten portions of food you already like, cooled properly, not a chest of first attempts.

Pick two soups or stews and one breakfast that freezes. Cook them on a day you are not rushing. Cool in shallow pans. Freeze flat. Label. Write the list on the inventory.

That is a two-week buffer if you are one person eating a freezer meal every other night, or a shorter buffer for a family. It is not a personality called "once a month cooking" unless you want that project. The caution on the big day is here: do not learn twelve recipes while the cooling clock is running.

Cook a recipe once for dinner before you multiply it. The freezer is a bad place to store a mistake in bulk.
