Soft foods and easy meals

Feeding a parent who lives alone

Small ready meals, a visible log, and the point at which a recipe is not the right response.

A parent living alone needs food that can be reheated without a new skill, in a portion that does not look like a dare. A cup of stew, a yogurt, eggs, a baked potato already split. Offer one plate, not a menu of six choices.

Leave two portions in the freezer with the steps taped on. Call or visit and look at what is actually being eaten. The log helps if more than one person checks in.

Appetite that keeps falling, confusion around the stove, or weight dropping without a plan is a medical conversation. Bring notes. Do not answer it with a more complicated recipe.

Easy meals for seniors and small meals when appetite is low are the cooking pages. They are not a care plan.
