Label the freezer so food gets eaten

Write the name you will recognize when you are tired, the date, and how many people it feeds. "Soup" is not a label. "Lentil stew, Oct 9, 2 portions" is.

Put newer bags behind older ones or keep the inventory honest. Food without a date becomes food you do not trust, which means you buy more food.

Quality is best inside two or three months for most home-cooked meals. The longer essay is how long freezer meals keep. When the year is a mystery, throw it out.
