Keeping family recipes
How to start a binder, interview a cook, and keep the original card while making a page someone else can follow.
Family recipes disappear in the gap between "everyone knows how" and the day the person who knew is not in the kitchen.

Start smaller than your guilt
One recipe this weekend. The dish people ask for. Write it on the heirloom page or a recipe card. Put the binder where the cooking happens.
What to ask
Pan, heat, and what "done" looks like. What they add when it tastes flat. Who taught them. The questions are collected in before a recipe disappears.
Paper and a backup
Scan the card. Sleeve the original. Transcribe without sanding off their wording. Your changes go in a note, not in their sentence. A photo on one phone is not a backup.
The overview is recipe binder. When you want dividers and an index already designed, the binder is the paid set. The free pages are enough to prove you will actually write in it.
