Meal-planning printables
How to use a weekly meal planner
A weekly meal planner works if you fill dinners first and leave one box blank for leftovers. Hang it where you cook. A planner in a backpack is a diary.

In the portions written below, protein is about 32 g, calories about 390–480, and sodium about 240–260 mg. Those are rounded kitchen estimates before extra cheese, bread, or a heavy pour of sauce.
Filling every box with a different ambitious meal is how the page becomes fiction.
How to run it
- Print the weekly grid and write Monday through Sunday dinners.
- Repeat breakfast on purpose.
- Circle two meals that create leftovers.
- Turn the circled meals into a grocery list the same day.

A jar of regular pasta sauce can add 400 mg of sodium per pepper. Tomato sauce with no salt added is plainer and easier to season yourself.
Ingredients
- 4 bell peppers, tops off and seeds removed
- 1 pound lean ground turkey
- 1 cup cooked rice
- 1 cup no-salt-added tomato sauce
- 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
- 1 garlic clove, grated
- black pepper
Method
- Heat the oven to 375°F. Mix turkey, rice, half the sauce, herbs, garlic, and pepper.
- Stuff the peppers. Set them in a dish, pour the rest of the sauce over, and cover.
- Bake 35–40 minutes, until the turkey reaches 165°F and the peppers are tender.
Fridge 4 days. Freezer: best quality within 2 months (wrapped peppers). Thaw in the fridge and reheat to 165°F.
Storage times are general guidance, not a lab test of this recipe. A shorter package or recipe instruction governs. Freezing and reheating do not rescue food left out too long, or a heat-stable toxin that already formed. USDA FSIS: Leftovers and Food Safety and USDA FSIS: Freezing and Food Safety.
Chill cooked rice promptly. Vomiting-type Bacillus cereus illness is generally tied to rice and other starchy foods, and that emetic toxin can survive heat that kills the bacteria. FDA Bad Bug Book: Bacillus cereus.

Milk is the old trick that makes a meat sauce feel finished without a pile of cheese. Cheese can go on individual bowls.
Ingredients
- 1 1/2 pounds lean ground turkey
- 1 onion, 1 carrot, and 1 celery rib, all diced fine
- 2 garlic cloves
- 1 can no-salt-added crushed tomatoes
- 2 tablespoons no-salt-added tomato paste
- 1/2 cup unsalted milk
- 1 teaspoon Italian herbs
- 12 ounces whole-wheat pasta
Method
- Brown the turkey. Add the diced vegetables and cook until soft, 8 minutes.
- Add tomatoes, paste, milk, and herbs. Simmer 25 minutes.
- Boil the pasta in unsalted water until it is as soft as you want it. Sauce and pasta meet in the bowl, so you can freeze the sauce alone.
Sauce keeps 4 days in the fridge. Freezer: best quality within 3 months. Cooked pasta is best the day you boil it. If you serve it hot, reheat to 165°F with a food thermometer.

Details that matter
- Check the freezer and pantry before the list, or you will buy a third jar of cumin.
- The Sunday checklist is a short list on purpose. If it takes twenty steps, you will skip it.
- One notebook or one binder door is the system. Five apps and a scrap of mail are not.
